'300: Rise of an Empire' director Noam Murro must have a thing for fluids. With the prequel's first poster, he gave us rain; now, with its latest one-sheet, he's unleashed a tidal wave of blood.

The poster, which Warner Bros. released smack dab in the middle of producer Zack Snyder's big week with 'Man of Steel,' makes it clear that this is one movie that won't be for the squeamish -- which is fine, really. After all, if you're one of the folks who's been clamoring for a follow-up to the Snyder-directed '300,' then it's epic battles and sweet special effects you're after. Judging from this image of a bloody-but-unbowed soldier pausing for a moment of reflection while gallons and gallons of hemoglobin go crashing in the background, '300: Rise of an Empire' is all about giving the people what they want.

Muscles, swords, shields and gore: what else could an old-fashioned action fan ask for? Only for '300: Rise of an Empire''s now 2014 release date to get here sooner, considering it was originally supposed to hit theaters this year. We can't help you on that front, but you can spend as much time as you like gazing at the poster. And be sure to check back later tonight for the release of the first trailer!
