'Happy Endings' and 'Apartment 23': ABC Pulls Sunday AiringsKevin Fitzpatrick |
Sheesh, talk about your "can't catch a break." After ABC pulled the remaining '666 Park Avenue' episodes from its Sunday lineup, the network made the unexpected move of slotting in new episodes of critically acclaimed comedies 'Happy Endings' and 'Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23,' in addition to their regular Tuesday premieres. That experiment seems to have failed, as ABC has now pulled both comedies from the Sunday lineup, but will it impact their renewal chances?
For those excited to see 'Happy Endings' and 'Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23' twice a week, the experiment seems to have ended rather quickly. After only two weeks with the comedies slotted in on Sunday (albeit to abysmal ratings of 1.0 and lower), ABC has pulled both 'Happy Endings' and 'Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23' in order to replace them with an encore episode of 'Shark Tank.'
Previously, ABC had hoped the additional Sunday placement would spread awareness of the struggling Tuesday comedies, which will still continue to air in their regular times.“We love those two shows. They're incredibly distinctive, and they’re water-cooler shows,” said ABC president Paul Lee at the Television Critics Association press tour last week.
ABC has yet to issue any official comments regarding the switch or the futures of 'Happy Endings' and 'Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23,' but what say you? Are you disappointed the Sunday experiment didn't work?
