‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Preview: Cal’s Supervillain Team Threatens ‘One of Us’

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has gone deep into its namesake universe to bring us Asgardans, Kree and Inhumans in recent weeks, but next Tuesday’s “One of Us” may swing the pendulum back around to introduce our first team of supervillains. Meet Cal’s new gang (as well as a figure from May’s past) in the full photo set and clips from next Tuesday’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.!

Though not quite wearing any flashy costumes, next Tuesday’s hour will see Cal (Kyle MacLachlan) assembling his own squad of nefarious powers to go up against Agent Coulson, the likes of which include Sons of Anarchy star Drea de Matteo, and such obscure Marvel characters as Angar the Screamer. That’s not all however, as May enlists her psychologist ex (Blair Underwood) to help get Skye’s quaking powers under control.

So reads Marvel’s full synopsis of next week’s “One of Us”:

Cal seeks revenge on Coulson by assembling a team of Super Villains to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. Meanwhile, May calls on renowned Dr. Andrew Garner (Blair Underwood), her charismatic ex-husband, with a crisis that threatens to tear the team apart, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Tuesday, March 17.

Guest starring are Henry Simmons as Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie, Kyle Maclachlan as The Doctor/Cal, Jamie Harris as Gordon, Blair Underwood as Dr. Andrew Garner, Drea De Matteo as Karla Faye Gideon, Ric Sarabia as Wendell Levi, Geo Corvera as Francis Noche, Jeff Daniel Phillips as David A. Angar, Gregg Martin as student, Jack Kennedy as security guard and Jamal Duff as John Bruno.

Still to come of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s return, we know that Battlestar Galactica vet Edward James Olmos will put in an appearance as the mysterious Robert Gonzales, a man who “will have massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team,” while Luke Mitchell will portray the Inhuman “Lincoln.” In addition, upcoming Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episodes will also begin to lay ground for Avengers: Age of Ultron in some capacity.
