Marvels 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 2: First Look at Lucy Lawless as Isabelle Hartley

Where last week saw Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." dropping an impressive season 2 character reveal in the form of Brian Patrick Wade's Absorbing Man, our latest look at the September premiere of ABC's 'Avengers'-adjacent series is much more battle-tested. Holster your chakram and check out 'Xena' star Lucy Lawless as Agent Isabelle Hartley in a new photo from 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 2!

Our first look at Lucy Lawless in character for 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 2 doesn't reveal terribly much, though we know from Marvel that the badass former agent will first appear in the September 23 premiere, joining Coulson's team in their efforts to rebuild the organization after the events of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier.' And if Lawless' tweets are to be taken at face value, the character might have something of a history with Patton Oswalt's LMD Agent Koenig.

Elsewhere of 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 2, we know that Nick Blood will join as mercenary and comic S.T.R.I.K.E. character Lance Hart, and ‘Dollhouse’ star and Whedon favorite Reed Diamond will play Daniel Whitehall (Secret Wars’ Kraken) as a Hydra baddie. 'Twin Peaks' Kyle MacLachlan will appear as Skye's apparently-gooey father, while Adrian Pasdar's Glenn Talbot will return to menace the team, and Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill has been confirmed for an eventual reappearance, as well.

You can see Lucy Lawless in all her wonderful lawlessness below, and tell us what you want to see when Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' returns for a second season on September 23!
