Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 additions Lance Hunter and Bobbi Morse got a raw deal in Season 3; spun out for a new ABC series that ultimately wasn’t Most Wanted. At least Hunter will get a chance to redeem himself, as Season 5 sets its sights on a familiar face.

Entertainment Weekly reveals that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5 will see Nick Blood reprising his role as Lance Hunter (no, we didn’t mix those up), albeit without Adrianne Palicki’s Barbara “Mockingbird” Morse. The two were given a notable exit in Season 3; sent on the run to justify their absence from the S.H.I.E.L.D. team and Most Wanted spinoff, though ABC ultimately passed on the prospect.

Still unknown is what brings the character back (or for how long), but Hunter’s return marks the first notable intel we’ve received on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5. The series will otherwise move to Friday nights for a largely uninterrupted run, once The Inhumans has completed its eight-episode run in the same timeslot.

Palicki was likely busy filming FOX’s The Orville, but what might bring Hunter back to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and what could it mean for Bobbi?
