The last teaser we saw for Brad Pitt’s espionage thriller Allied came at an oddly coincidental time, released online just hours after news hit of Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce. It begged the question of just how much Allied‘s reception may or may not be affected by Pitt’s real life news. But either way, the latest trailer has enough twisty romance drama on screen to keep your attention.

The first full-length trailer is even more action-packed than the teasers. Marion Cotillard and Pitt’s WWII spies shoot up a ballroom full of Nazis with machine guns, Pitt throws grenades at tanks and hospitals are blowing up. There’s also Matthew Goode covered in scars with a missing eyeball. But the real action is the tension between Cotillard and Pitt’s characters, who aren’t being totally truthful to one another.

Directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Steven Knight (Locke, Eastern Promises), Allied stars Pitt as Max Vatan, an intelligence officer who meets and falls for Cotillard’s French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour. Set in 1942 North Africa, the two spies wed and start a family, only for Max to later learn his wife may be a German spy. Spies, you can’t trust ’em!

Allied also stars Jared Harris, Lizzy Caplan, Simon McBurney, Raffey Cassidy, and Charlotte Hope. The espionage romance to hits theaters November 23.
