Dane DeHaan's Harry Osborn doesn't become the villainous Green Goblin until the third act of 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' and he couldn't be more different than the previous cinematic take on the character. While original 'Spider-Man' director Sam Raimi put the iconic villain inside a full suit of armor, Marc Webb opted to pursue something slightly closer to the original comic book counterpart, giving the character a horror movie look that actually makes him resemble a monster. But, as is the case with all big movies like this, the final look was created after countless other designs were rejected and some newly released concept art gives us a look at the Goblin that could have been.

The work of veteran superhero movie concept artist Long Ouyang, these alternate Goblin designs range from the cool to the preposterous. Some of the ideas contain seeds of the final look, but others are so left field that it's hard to even begin imagining them on the big screen. There are designs that look like something out of 'Lord of the Rings,' designs tat look like hardcore military science fiction and even a few that look like someone the Power Rangers would have fought back in the '90s.

You can check out all of the art below. What do you think? Do you prefer any of these to the final version? A tip of the hat to Comic Book Movie for posting these.
