The Walking Dead and its Fear-ful spinoff dominated AMC airwaves by the Season 5 finale, but the network at last has new original series on the horizon. Get a first look at William Hurt android drama Humans, as well as Daniel Wu martial arts epic Into the Badlands with two-all-new trailers!

Though neither spot tells a great deal about its series, AMC’s eight-episode Humans will feature a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget for any busy family is a “Synth,” a highly-developed robotic servant eerily similar to its live counterpart. William Hurt takes the role of George Millican, a widower with a close relationship with his dated synth Odi (Will Tudor), who he treats more like a son than machinery.

Based off Swedish sci-fi drama Real Humans and written by Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley, AMC’s Humans also stars Katherine Parkinson, Tom Goodman-Hill, Colin Morgan, Rebecca Front, Neil Maskell, and Gemma Chan.

Meanwhile, fall-premiering Into the Badlands is described as a genre-bending martial arts drama loosely based on classic Chinese tale “Journey to the West.” Into the Badlands chronicles a land controlled by feudal barons, as ruthless, well-trained warrior Sunny (Wu) and a young boy embark on a journey to find enlightenment. Created by Smallville team Al Gough and Miles Millar, the new six-episode series also stars Emily Beecham, Sarah Bolger and Oliver Stark, with David Dobkin directing.

If nothing else, it’s nice to see something on AMC not spun off a more successful series, or at least dragging its run out an additional year. Will either Humans or Into the Badlands be AMC’s next big thing?
