‘American Horror Story: Coven’ Releases Premiere “Bitchcraft” Photos, New Orleans Voodoo Featurette
‘American Horror Story: Coven”s witchy premiere, “Bitchcraft,” will conjure its presence on FX in just one week’s time, but rather than another ludicrous teaser, why not some actual photos and information on the season? Ryan Murphy‘s drama recently managed to scare up just that, along with a handy guide to the actual New Orleans voodoo that dominates the season!
Matching some of the photos we’d seen before, the latest looks from the October 9 “Bitchcraft” premiere offer our first real look at Evan Peters‘ character Kyle Spencer, a Tulane frat boy who develops an interest in Taissa Farmiga’s character Zoe. Meanwhile, a new behind-the-scenes ‘Coven’ featurette reveals some actual insight into the voodoo religion that figures prominently into the season, rather than the Hollywood pins and needles approach we’ve all seen time and time again.
Here’s the logline for the ‘Coven’ premiere, “Bitchcraft,” while we’re at it:
A young girl, Zoe, is shattered to discover she possesses a strange genetic affliction tracing back to the dark days of Salem. Zoe is whisked away to Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies, a mysterious school in New Orleans devoted to safeguarding the few remaining descendants who share this unique bloodline. Harboring a secret agenda, Fiona Goode, the most powerful witch of their generation, returns to town, reigniting old rivalries with the Coven’s deadly enemies, the Voodoo.
Along with the official footage and cast portraits that have made their way online, we know that the third season of Ryan Murphy’s breakout horror hit will move back and forth between both present and 1830s New Orleans in a battle between witches and voodoo. ‘American Horror Story: Coven’ will also welcome newcomers Danny Huston, Christine Ebersole, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone, Leslie Jordan and Gabourey Sidibe, along with returning franchise regulars Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy, Lily Rabe, Denis O’Hare, Alexandra Breckinridge, Frances Conroy, and Sarah Paulson.
