We normally toss a few grains of salt onto showrunners and stars chatting about potential collaborations, but in the case of 'American Horror Story: Freak Show''s Ryan Murphy and Neil Patrick Harris, chatting seems to have paid off! The former 'HIMYM' star, 2015 Oscars host and NBC variety leader will officially guest on the 'Freak Show' later this season, bringing with him husband David Burtka.

Per TVLine, news of Harris' official casting follows up on Twitter exchanges and interviews as far back as August, wherein both Harris and Murphy expressed an interest in a 'Freak Show' collaboration, should the schedules align. Now, we've learned Harris will appear in the final two (!) episodes of the season as a "chameleon salesman" (literal, or figurative?), while Harris' husband (and sometime 'HIMYM' star Burtka will guest in the finale as part of "a sexy storyline with Jessica Lange’s batty chanteuse."

Mind you, this isn't Harris and Murphy's first onscreen collaboration, as the former Doogie Howser popped up on 'Glee' a few seasons back, nabbing a guest-star Emmy for the role. In the meantime, tonight will see 'American Horror Story: Freak Show' continuing its two-part Halloween guest spot for fellow Murphy collaborator Wes Bentley, "Edward Mordrake, Part 2."

Neil Patrick Harris is understandably busy these days, but what say you? Are you looking forward to having NPH among the cast of 'American Horror Story?' What have you made of the 'Freak Show' thus far?
