Weeks ago, speculation abounded that 'American Horror Story' seasons 1 and 2 star Dylan McDermott might not make it for the upcoming third season, having accepted a role in CBS pilot 'Hostages.' That potential exclusion hasn't prevented the star from being privy to the season 3 plan however, as McDermott may have accidentally let slip to reporters the location and setting of 'American Horror Story' season 3! Find out what McDermott had to say inside!

Speculation will likely run rampant about 'American Horror Story' season 3 for some time, regardless of which cast members new and old sign on for the new year. And while franchise staple Dylan McDermott may not have availability for a role in season 3, the actor may have accidentally revealed the setting, telling E! reporters of 'Misery' star Kathy Bates' recent casting:

She really is [perfect]. All the witches of Salem…there's plenty of them!

The infamous Salem Witch Trials had been suggested as a potential setting for 'American Horror Story' back before the second season as well, though 'Asylum' viewers seemed to think "The Name Game"s use of 1950s jukebox hit "I Pull A Spell On You" provided a clue to the third season. Utilizing the original Salem Witch Trials wouldn't necessarily fit with the modern, "glamourous" view of evil Murphy previewed about season 3, but it remains to be seen if McDermott's words carry any merit.

In addition to Kathy Bates' character, ‘American Horror Story’ season 3 has already recruited franchise regulars Jessica Lange, Lily Rabe, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson, with the potential for others going forward. Prior series star Zachary Quinto has not been confirmed, and may sit the third round out as well if scheduling falls through.

Murphy has revealed only select details of the FX drama’s third season, including that season 3 would have a love story focus akin to the one between Violet and Tate in season 1. The season will be set in the modern day across several cities, occasionally dipping back into the past as the narrative requires. Murphy also previewed that Peters’ role will likely prove that of a “sobbing psychopath” once again, while Jessica Lange would be a “glamour cat leading lady” of sorts.

Well, what say you? Do you think McDermott is right and 'American Horror Story' season 3 will somehow relate to the Salem Witch Trials? Where would you like to see the new season set?
