Between the brilliance of Inside Amy Schumer and the relatable hilarity of Trainwreck (you could swap adjectives to describe both, really), Amy Schumer is on top of the world. Her recent GQ Star Wars photo shoot only further cemented her status as an icon, and Schumer will soon follow in the footsteps of her fellow comedic icons with her own HBO special — which now has its very own premiere date.

Per Variety, Schumer’s comedy special will premiere on HBO on Saturday, October 17. HBO comedy veteran Chris Rock brought his directorial expertise to the table when the one-off special taped back in May at the storied Apollo Theater in New York. Schumer wrote the special (obviously) and acts as co-executive producer.

HBO gave critics a look at the special during their panel today at the 2015 TCAs, with programming president Michael Lombardo adding, “Amy is one of the most inspired comics working today, and we hope her first HBO special marks the start of a long and beautiful relationship.”

The network has had a long relationship with Rock, who has featured in several comedy specials for HBO over the years. With Schumer’s star increasingly on the rise, it would be wise for the network to begin building a relationship with her now, and it looks like they’re banking on the potential for further one-hour specials.

While we patiently await the October premiere date, do yourself a favor and check out Trainwreck, currently playing in theaters nationwide.
