Andres Muschietti is fast becoming a highly demanded director in Hollywood, especially after what looks like a big success with his It movie. Muschietti has signed on to direct a live-action adaptation of anime Robotech, and has said he wants to do Stephen King’s Pet Sematary next after he’s finished with It. Which might be sooner rather than later, as the director plans to start working on It 2 before touching anything else.

While speaking to Italian publication Bad Taste (via ScreenRant), Muschietti confirmed that he’d like to finish It 2 before starting work on Robotech. “IT 2 is my priority. I would run Robotech, in case later,” is the rough translation of what Muschietti said. He also said that he hopes the sequel will have a higher budget, which seems like a good bet to make. The early buzz about It had been overwhelmingly positive — great news for King fans who are ready for the horror master to have another good movie adaptation.

King’s It novel takes place over two timelines: the first occurs when the main characters were children, and the second 30 years later when they’re adults. One of the main themes of the story is how people deal (or fail to deal) with childhood trauma, and Pennywise the clown certainly traumatizes the children of the town of Derry. It hits theaters September 8.
