In Vanity Fair’s recent cover story going behind-the-scenes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there were a number of big reveals: a first look at Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma, Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren and Lupita Nyong’o performing motion-capture work as Maz Kanata. But, there's one more item that didn’t make the final print. Today, we get our first look at an outtake from the Annie Liebowitz photoshoot of Andy Serkis filming as his character, Supreme Leader Snoke.

The new photograph was revealed today on StarWars.com as part of profile on Liebowitz and her work covering Star Wars over the years. Sadly, this photograph and the confirmation of the character’s name was all that was provided. Though from this photograph, we also get confirmation that this character (like many of Serkis’ recent work) will be a motion-capture creation.

What we do know about Snoke is that he is the one who provided the voiceover for the first teaser trailer. “There has been an awakening. Have you felt it? The dark side and the light.” Judging by the ominous tone in his voice (and the equally as ominous look on Serkis’ face), we’ll guess that Snoke has some sinister motivations and that he might be the Supreme Leader of The First Order, which would essentially make him the new Emperor.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters on December 18.
