"Romantic love will be the last illusion of the old order," says a voiceover in the first trailer for 'Anna Karenina,' the latest film from director Joe Wright, starring Keira Knightley.

Wright reunites with Knightley for 'Anna Karenina,' based on the classic work of literature by Leo Tolstoy. Wright and Knightley previously worked together on 'Pride and Prejudice' and 'Atonement.'

Here, Knightley plays the titular Karenina, a socialite in 19th century Russia who has an affair with an equally aristocratic count following her brother's own similar infidelity, but society isn't as forgiving of Karenina as they are of her male counterpart. As the story unfolds, Karenina grows suspicious that her lover is now being unfaithful to her, a result of her own guilt and the way that society continues to embrace dishonest men while shaming women for the same.

'Anna Karenina' is an emotionally striking story that fits well withing Wright's dramatic period sensibilities -- a tale of love and its limitations and the search for happiness regardless of its cost in a time when women were held captive by society for their own desires.

The trailer below highlights Wright's beautiful direction of this adaptation, starring Knightley, Aaron Johnson ('Kick-Ass'), Jude Law, Kelly MacDonald, Matthew MacFayden, Emily Watson, and Olivia Williams. 'Anna Karenina' hits theaters November 9. (Oh and check out our exclusive interview with Keira Knightley right here!)
