Any 'Archer' fan well knows that a great deal of the show's success owes to its incredible voice cast, of which far more than mere voice goes into creating the characters of FX's super-spy comedy. In particular the show's cast greatly influences the character design as well (except H. Jon Benjamin, heh), but did you know that the series uses actual real-life models as templates for the characters? See the cast of 'Archer' IRL inside!

Just about every cartoon fan secretly dreams of one day seeing their favorite cartoon realized in live-action, even if doing so would utterly negate its voice cast and humor. Thankfully, 'Archer' fans can have it both ways! Boom, phrasing. The FX spy comedy from 'Frisky Dingo' creator Adam Reed will never make the transition to a live-action movie, but the show's largely realistic art style actually owes to in-person models for the individual characters, not necessarily derivative of the voice cast.

Vulture compiled an extensive gallery of the show's character models contrasted with their real-life inspiration, and detailed descriptions of how the producers arrived on each individual figure as the best model for the character. Most surprising of all perhaps is that Ray Gillette's character model actually comes from actor Lucky Yates, who provides the voice of Krieger!

We've included a few of the character models below, but the piece makes for a great read over at Vulture, so take a look and give us your thoughts on 'Archer's' secret origins in the comments!
