Given the success of FX's animated spy comedy 'Archer,' now airing its fourth season with its best ratings to date, the Adam Reed-produced series wasn't exactly in the "danger zone" before. Less than halfway through its fourth season and FX is already doubling down on one of its flagship comedies, renewing 'Archer' for season 5. The current season has been on a particular high note, attracting the series' highest ratings to date, averaging around 2.37 million viewers per episode and following a successful four-city tour of "Archer Live!"

“'Archer' is one the very best comedy series on television,” said Nick Grad, EVP of Original Programming for FX. “Adam Reed, Matt Thompson and the incredible cast – H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Chris Parnell, Judy Greer, Amber Nash, George Coe, and Lucky Yates – are comedic geniuses. It is truly rewarding the way in which the audience and fans have embraced their work and that the ratings to continue to grow. The quality of 'Archer' is undeniable."

When notified of the season five pick-up, series creator Adam Reed said, “Thank God," to which Thompson added "called it." The fifth season will consist of 13 episodes, but it remains to be seen how they'll be divided after season 3 staged a three-episode summer event.
