Yesterday brought word that Archer would be moving to FXX for Season 8 (albeit without a formal premiere date beyond “spring”), and a first look at the new “Dreamland” setting more than ensures we’ll follow. Watch Sterling and co. give their best noir in new promos for the Season 8 premiere!

Eyed for a spring 2017 FXX and officially adopting the “Dreamland” subtitle producers teased in 2016, Archer makes its Season 8 move to 1947 Hollywood with two new promos. Neither necessarily tip toward the Season 7 finale that’s likely to blame for Sterling’s new “dreamland,” but still dazzle with those always-gorgeous visuals.

So reads the new synopsis:

Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy that revolves around the hardboiled private eye Sterling Archer and his quest to find his partner’s killer in 1947 Los Angeles. The case proves to be more difficult than expected after Archer quickly gets mixed up in a deadly game of tug of war between Los Angeles’ most powerful crime bosses. Every clue leads Archer further away from his goal and deeper into a mystery involving kidnapping, prostitution and drug addiction.

Worth noting, co-creator Matt Thompson explained at New York Comic-Con last year that Woodhouse is the partner in question, as a tribute to voice actor George Coe. Coe passed away in 2015, leaving the character largely absent from the series since, while the premise also rewrites backstory and relationships for all of the main characters.

Archer has also been renewed through Season 10 (with the possibility to conclude there), but stay tuned for more on a spring premiere.
