Anticipation for a fifth Arrested Development season largely dried up when Season 4 made clear the prolific cast had trouble coordinating schedules. That said, the now-confirmed Season 5 teases a more collaborative approach, as star Will Arnett assures the cast will spend “much more” time together overall.

Arnett tells Business Insider that the cast of Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, David Cross and Alia Shawkat will spend “much more” time together in the fifth season, adding that production felt “much like the original broadcast series.”

Curiously, Arnett seemed to drag his feet over Twitter when reports of Arrested Development Season 5 first surfaced:

Creator Mitch Hurwitz had previously projected an early 2017 start to production, though reports of a prequel format (to minimize cast commitment) suggested a possible June shoot date. Elsewhere, Arnett previously claimed that Netflix bosses “need to get their s— together,” while Hurwitz has also mapped out a large portion of Season 5, hoping to capitalize on eerie similarities to the 2016 elections.

We should learn more in the next few weeks, but will Arrested Development Season 5 make up for the scattershot Season 4?
