‘Arrow’ Season 2 Premiere Sneak Peek: Felicity Makes an Explosive Island Arrival
While the past week brought several exciting 'Arrow' season 2 casting announcements, the October 9 premiere "City of Heroes" has finally let loose its first sustained footage. The big return for Oliver Queen and co. takes us back to the beginning as Felicity and Diggle search for the lost vigilante in the first clip of the season, but what new troubles will they find along the way?
Via the Wall Street Journal, our first look at 'Arrow' season 2 sees Diggle (David Ramsey) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) tracking down Oliver to his former island home of Lian Yu, having isolated himself after the earthshaking events of season 1 finale "Sacrifice." After passing a familiar-looking mask set up along the beach, Felicity immediately manages to get herself into trouble, necessitating rescue by a sweaty shirtless Oliver lying on top of her. You know, normal people problems.
In addition to introducing Grant Gustin’s Flash alongside references to Metamorpho and The Atom, ‘Arrow’ season 2 will pick up on October 9 some time after the events of the season 1 finale, continuing its ‘Batman Begins’-influenced storytelling with the addition of new villains Dr. Anthony Ivo (Dylan Neal), Isabel Rochev (Summer Glau), Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White), Amanda Waller (‘Spartacus‘ Cynthia Addai-Robinson), Brother Blood (Kevin Alejandro), League of Assassins member Al-Owal (‘Homeland' star Navid Negahban) and DC character Sin (‘The Killing' star Bex Taylor Klaus). New reports have confirmed that John Barrowman will reprise his role as Malcolm Merlyn for at least two episodes, though it remains to be seen under what circumstances.
