A few weeks ago 'Arrow' season 3 gave us a sneak peek into the next leg of Oliver Queen's heroic journey in the form of four new (and suspiciously familiar) characters we'd meet. Now, the first major new addition of the season has arrived, as 'Sin City' star Devon Aoki joins 'Arrow' to carve Oliver into fighting form as the sword-slinging Tatsu Yamashiro, better known as DC's Katana!

News of Aoki's casting comes from Deadline, who add that 'Arrow''s incarnation of Tatsu will be one of Oliver's mentors in flashbacks to his time in Hong Kong, ultimately "a critical influence on his journey to eventually become The Arrow of present day." In the world of DC comics, Tatsu Yamashiro is a Japanese martial arts expert who wields a deadly sword, from which the name Katana is derived.

Despite appearing in DC's Green Arrow graphic novel origins stories, Katana was also prominently featured as a sidekick in Cartoon Network's 'Beware the Batman.' Additionally, it remains unclear for the moment if Aoki's casting as Tatsu fills one of the four characters outlined in the recent 'Arrow' casting call, or if the character will be entirely separate.

We'll learn more of 'Arrow' season 3 from the massive Comic-Con 2014 panel that also includes spinoff 'The Flash,' FOX's 'Gotham,' and NBC's 'Constantine,' but what say you? Having wielded steel as 'Sin City''s deadly little Miho (portrayed by Jamie Chung in 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For') is Devon Aoki perfect casting for 'Arrow''s Katana? Tell us what you want to see from 'Arrow' season 3 in the comments, and stay tuned for the latest from Comic-Con 2014!
