Tahmoh Penikett sure has a storied history for genre TV fans, popping up on everything from 'Dollhouse' to 'Castle' in his days since 'Battlestar Galactica,' even hooking up with the theatrical 'Man of Steel' next year.  But far from content to only appear with the big-screen superheroes, Penikett has also landed a potentially recurring role in The CW's Green Arrow adaptation 'Arrow!'  Will Penikett portray an existing DC character, or an altogether new menace?

Today The Hollywood Reporter tells us that 'Arrow' has pinpointed yet another geek icon, casting 'Battlestar Galactica' vet Tahmoh Penikett for an upcoming arc.  Rather than an established DC character however, Penikett will take the role of Tom Salvati, right-hand man to mob boss Frank Bertinelli (Jeffrey Nordling), father to The Huntress' alter-ego Helena Bertinell (Jessica De Gouw).

The Huntress, and presumably Penikett as well will first appear beginning with the series sixth episode, following its October 10 premiere.  It remains to be seen if Penikett's role will extend beyond his initial appearance.

Elsewhere, 'Arrow' features geek cred out the wazoo with comic castings that include The Royal Flush Gang, The Huntress, Deadshot, China White and Deathstroke the Terminator.  Additionally, ‘Torchwood’ star John Barrowman was also added to she series in an unnamed, but apparently major recurring role as a mysterious billionaire.

What say you?  Has 'Arrow' hit its mark by appealing to the genre TV crowd with Tahmoh Penikett?  Will you tune in for the October 10 premiere?
