'Arrow' "The Promise" Preview: Deathstroke Goes After Oliver, All Hell Breaks Loose on the Island

EDIT
|

This past week's 'Arrow' installment "Time of Death" dropped a major bombshell on Oliver in its final minutes (or earlier, if you looked at the spoilerific photos that came out beforehand), but next week's "The Promise" may prove to be the most explosive installment yet. Deathstrokes past and present are on the rampage in the full set of photos from next week's landmark episode, but just how big do the fireworks get?

According to executive producer Marc Guggenheim in the preview above, next week's "The Promise" could be the biggest installment of 'Arrow' yet, making last season's finale look "like a student film from the 1980's." The photos from the hour certainly seem to corroborate as much, as the modern-day Slade Wilson introduces himself to the entire Queen family, even Roy Harper, while Oliver later steps up his training of the youth to battle his former foe.

Not to mention, past Slade doesn't look too happy to discover the truth about Oliver's role in Shado's death! Here's what The CW had to say of next week's "The Promise":

THE TURNING POINT — Oliver (Stephen Amell) is shocked when he learns that Slade (Manu Bennett) has come to Starling City. Back on the island, as Oliver, Slade and Sara (Caity Lotz) prepare to take over the freighter from Ivo (guest star Dylan Neal), Sara pulls Oliver aside and tells him he needs to kill Ivo to prevent him from telling Slade what happened with Shado. Oliver feels immense guilt over the situation but realizes Slade’s growing rage from the Mirakuru makes him unpredictable and he could turn on his friends if he thinks Oliver is to blame. Oliver agrees to kill Ivo and the battle begins.

As if 'Arrow' weren't repeatedly outdoing itself from week to week, we also caught our first look at its 'Flash' spinoff in costume earlier, so the future of DC TV seems well assured. Check out the full set of photos from "The Promise" below, and give us your predictions in the comments!
