An article published yesterday shed some light on the potentially tense contract negotiations that are looming between Marvel Studios and Robert Downey Jr. and the 'Avengers' cast. Hard to believe as it is, there seems to be a possibility that the studio would opt to recast Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and the rest of the crew instead of upping their paychecks. So how would that affect your decision to see Marvel's upcoming films?

Obviously, this is just pure speculation at the moment. We have no insight into the conversations between Marvel and its stars, outside of the Deadline report that suggests Marvel is going to have to pony up some big-time cash to lock in Downey Jr. and the rest of the cast for 'The Avengers 2' and future Marvel movies (or Phase 3). Marvel is notorious for pinching pennies, and the thinking is they'd have no qualms about recasting some of their superheroes if negotiating gets tough. Again, simply speculation.

It seems highly unlikely that Marvel, cost-consious or not, would jeopardize the very good thing they've got going with their current series of films -- especially since these actors are becoming so closely identified with their characters. But you can never underestimate a company when it wants to play hardball.

So the question is, would you continue to see Marvel's films if the superheroes were recast? Vote in our poll, and let us know which actors you'd like to see recast as which superheroes.
