If you even remotely follow the world of technology and video games, you've surely heard of the Oculus Rift, the virtual reality device that's poised to change the way people experience interactive media. Now, in a move that could be historical (or foolhardy), the indie science-fiction horror film 'Banshee Chapter' will be the first film available to watch on the Oculus.

Here's what that means. To watch the movie, you'll put on the headset, which completely blocks all sight. The movie, which will be presented in 3D, will play right in front of your face and the Oculus will treat the space of the movie as an actual environment, allowing you look around and observe the action as you watch. For an example of what this looks like, make sure you watch it video above. That is, to put it simply, crazy.

Although we can't speak for how a horror movie will translate to the Oculus Rift, we have played horror games on the device before and the results have been absurdly, unbearably terrifying. If watching a particularly intense movie can translate well, this could be a very special (albeit, probably niche) way to consume content in the future.

The Oculus Rift has been in development for a couple of years and is still only in a select few hands, but Facebook bought the company for $2 billion recently, which means that a commercial release is probably imminent (some say as early as 2015). If you want to check out 'Banshee' chapter for yourself, the film is currently available through all of the typical VOD outlets. If you're one of the lucky few to currently possess an Oculus of your own, you can watch 'Banshee Chapter' right now, free of cost.

And let us know what you think!
