While many of us were disheartened to learn that 'True Blood' creator Alan Ball would be stepping down as showrunner for the sixth season of HBO's bloody drama, the news was tempered by the fact that Ball would swiftly return to TV to helm Cinemax's pulpy thriller 'Banshee.' The network kept the project pretty secretive at first, but how would you like to see the first trailer? Is it every bit as bloody, sexy and action-packed as its spiritual predecessor?

'True Blood' creator Alan Ball will soon make his glorious return to pay-cable, debuting pulpy new adrenaline thriller 'Banshee' on Cinemax Friday, January 11. Created by Ball, ‘Banshee’ features Antony Starr as Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania, where he continues his criminal activities, even as he’s hunted by the shadowy gangsters he betrayed years earlier. The series also stars ‘Charlie’s Angels” Ivana Milicevic, Ulrich Thomsen, Frankie Faison, Rus Blackwell, Ryann Shane and ‘Star Trek's' Ben Cross.

The new trailer is chock full of action, explosions, good-looking men and women, and all the intrigue Cinemax viewers have come to love. Take a look at the first 'Banshee' trailer below, courtesy of IGN, and tell us in the comments if you'll be tuning in!
