See the Cast of ‘Barb Wire’ Then and Now
These days, awesome comic book movies are everywhere, but in the ’90s, the genre was very different.
In 1996, ‘Barb Wire’ was released, starring ‘Baywatch’ icon Pamela Anderson and described as a “post-apocalyptic remake of ‘Casablanca’ set in a strip club.” We think it’s high time to take a look back at Anderson and the cast of this very cheesy flick and see what they’re up to these days.
Pamela Anderson, Barbara “Barb Wire” Kopetski
Then: The ‘Baywatch’ babe and Playboy playmate was cast in the starring role as heroine Barb Wire, a nightclub owner who makes extra cash on the side by working as a mercenary and bounty hunter.
Now: Anderson has become a high-profile supporter of PETA and has appeared on reality competition shows ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and ‘Dancing on Ice.’ Following the cancellation of her shows ‘V.I.P.’ and ‘Stacked,’ Pamela recently returned to acting with a stint on the sitcom ‘Package Deal.’
Temuera Morrison, Axel Hood
Then: The New Zealand-born actor earned acclaim for his role in ‘Once Were Warriors’ before starring as Axel Hood, a freedom fighter and former lover of Barb Wire’s.
Now: Morrison is probably known best for playing Jango Fett (and the Clone Troopers) in ‘Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones’ and ‘Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith.’ He also appeared in ‘Green Lantern’ as Abin Sur.
Victoria Rowell, Dr. Corrina “Cora D” Devonshire
Then: Victoria Rowell was an actress on daytime soap ‘The Young and the Restless’ and appeared in ‘Dumb and Dumber’ before signing on to play Cora D, a fugitive government scientist.
Now: Rowell ended her run on ‘The Young and the Restless’ in 2007, and has since appeared on ‘Ghost Whisperer’ and ‘Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.’ The actress dedicates a large amount of her time and energy to helping foster children.
Jack Noseworthy, Charlie Kopetski
Then: Prior to playing Barb Wire’s brother, Charlie, in ‘Barb Wire,’ Jack Noseworthy had memorable roles in ‘Encino Man’ and ‘The Brady Bunch Movie.’ He was also the lead in ‘Dead at 21,’ one of MTV’s first scripted series.
Now: Noseworthy doesn’t have a huge resume, but you’ll likely remember him for his roles in ‘Idle Hands,’ ‘Event Horizon’ and ‘U-571.’ His most recent big-screen credit is the 2009 film ‘Surrogates’ with Bruce Willis. In recent years he’s appeared on the stage, both on Broadway and opposite Candice Bergen in ‘Living for Today’ at New York City’s Joe’s Pub.
Xander Berkeley, Alexander Willis
Then: Xander Berkeley brought some much-needed gravity to ‘Barb Wire’ in the role of police chief Alexander Willis. Berkeley’s prior acting credits include ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day,’ ‘A Few Good Men’ and ‘Candyman.’
Now: Berkley has continued to enjoy a long and successful career. He met his wife Sarah Clarke on the set of the TV show ’24,’ and the pair have a couple of kids together. His most recent acting credits include ‘Kick-Ass,’ ‘Nikita’ and ‘Being Human.’ His resume is so extensive that you could probably turn on the TV at any moment and find something he’s been in.
Udo Kier, Curly
Then: German-born Udo Kier has a similarly extensive resume, and before appearing in ‘Barb Wire’ as Curly, he starred in films as varied as Dario Argento’s horror masterpiece ‘Suspiria’ and the Jim Carrey comedy ‘Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.’
Now: Kier has appeared in a ton of movies and TV shows, though his most notable work has been with director Lars Von Trier in films like ‘Breaking the Waves,’ ‘Manderlay’ and ‘Melancholia.’
Steve Railsback, Colonel Pryzer
Then: Cult actor Steve Railsback had previously protrayed Charles Manson in ‘Helter Skelter’ and starred in the cult classic ‘Lifeforce’ before portraying the evil Colonel Pryzer in ‘Barb Wire.’
Now: Playing serial killers is one of the things Railsback does best — in addition to playing Charles Manson in ‘Helter Skelter’ in the ’70s, the actor has also played Ed Gein in ‘In the Light of the Moon,’ a film he produced.
Jennifer Banko, Spike
Then: Jennifer Banko’s first role was as Tina in ‘Friday the 13th, Part VII: The New Blood.’ She also appeared on ‘Married … With Children’ and ‘Boy Meets World’ before signing on for the part of badass Spike in ‘Barb Wire.’
Now: Banko didn’t act for much longer after ‘Barb Wire.’ Her last big role was on the soap ‘Sunset Beach,’ and she appeared in the 2013 documentary ‘Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th.’ These days she spends her time working in education and promoting charities.
