We've seen plenty of teenage assassin movies and we've seen plenty of high school comedies, but what happens when you slam these two concepts together to form an Ultra High Concept Action Comedy starring the likes Hailee Steinfeld and Samuel L. Jackson? Apparently, you get 'Barely Lethal,' which casts the Oscar-nominated star of 'True Grit' and 'Ender's Game' as a 16 year old assassin who takes on her greatest challenge yet: public schooling.

Our first look at the film comes via EW and they're exactly what you'd expect. First, you get the shot of Ms. Steinfeld in action, wielding a pistol and tackling/protecting co-star Jessica Alba in the middle of a war zone. The second image puts the focus on Mr. Jackson, who appears to be doing what he does best: looking intimidating and making unfashionable hats look pretty cool.

Although director Kyle Newman only has one other feature under his belt (the not-very-good 'Fanboys'), there's definitely enough promise here to keep us interested. Steinfeld has shown herself to be the real deal with the proper material and the "'Mean Girls' with guns" plot sounds like it could be a lot of fun if it's handled with the right touch. We'll find out for sure when 'Barely Lethal' hits theaters later this year.
