Let Commissioner Gordon’s cryptic description of the Caped Crusader’s demise set the tone for Batman: Arkham Knight in this epic launch trailer.

Warner Bros. Interactive has released the launch trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight, and it is heavy on the foreshadowing. Throughout the trailer, we see a variety of clips featuring the Batman family beating up on the Rogues Gallery’s henchmen as Commissioner Gordon (voiced by Jonathan Banks of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul fame) describes the Dark Knight’s crusade against crime. Gordon’s words sound like a eulogy, and it hasn’t been long since we saw him give one for Bruce Wayne during the ending of The Dark Knight Rises. As we all know, no one ever truly stays dead when it comes to superhero stories (unless you’re Ben Parker or Bruce Wayne’s parents). Nevertheless, Gordon’s words left us rather worried for Bruce Wayne’s ultimate fate.

Here’s what Commissioner Gordon had to say about Batman’s dedication to fighting the good fight:

For the hero, the only true conclusion is death. The hero does not cower to death, for that would belittle life. The hero knows he cannot defeat danger, but for a moment he can free others from fear. Let those left behind find hope in his sacrifice. Let those who knew him well speak of his fierce loyalty, unwavering convictions and when the time came his ultimate willingness to give all. Legends live on; only man comes to an end. This is how it happened — this is how the Batman died.

Batman: Arkham Knight will launch on June 23 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Please note that the Batmobile Collector’ Edition of the game has been cancelled.
