When Warner Bros. Games Montreal took the reins of the Arkham series from Rocksteady studios, gamers were skeptical Batman: Arkham Origins would hold up to its two predecessors. In the E3 trailer of this prequel story, an inexperienced Caped Crusader will find out if he's ready to dance with the devil in the pale moonlight.

As we can see in the trailer, this tale will revolve around Black Mask and his rise to power throughout the criminal underworld. With Batman's unstoppable one-man-war on crime, Black Mask has taken it upon himself to place a $50,000,000 bounty on the Dark Knight, and super villains such as Deadshot and Deathstroke intend to collect.

The gameplay will build on Arkham City's open-world and free-flowing combat system. Batman can be seen dropping down from the Batwing, utilizing a larger arsenal to serve out vigilante justice, and now has an improved version of Detective Vision, where the Bat can recreate crime scenes via holograms in order to search for clues.

Gamers will be able to once again play as Billionaire Bruce in Batman: Arkham Origins on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U on Oct. 25. Players on the PS3 will gain two new suits in the Knightfall outfit and the 1960s Batman outfit.
