If you’re the kind of nerd that crawled through the new Batman vs. Superman trailer frame-by-frame...welcome to the club. However, in your attempt to figure out how everything in this massive trailer could possibly fit into one movie, you probably noted one scene that stood out from the rest. At some point, Batman finds himself in the desert, wearing desert Batman gear and getting into a brawl with soldiers wearing the Superman “S”. Now, a new photo has arrived online to give us a new glimpse at the Dark Knight in this alternate get-up.

Why is Batman in a desolate, desert-like environment beating down those Superman worshippers we glimpsed in the first teaser trailer? Who knows. That answer will come in due time. The important thing right now is that Ben Affleck’s Batman is dressed for the situation, with a heavy coat over his costume and goggles strapped to his cowl. This isn’t quite as silly as Batman having a suit with built-in ice skates in Batman & Robin, but it does serve a similar purpose in the end. Now, the toy companies can sell an extra Batman figure with a new costume.

Anyway, this close-up of Bats in this alternate gear comes from set photographer Clay Enos, whose extraordinary work on the set of Watchmen become the subject of its own coffee table book. You can check out the photo for yourself below. We hope he releases more shots from the set because he’s the real deal. His work is gorgeous.

Just in case you live under a rock, here’s the film’s official synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Batman vs Superman opens on March 26, 2016. Check out the new image below!
