Is Jude Law the right actor to lead a suspense-thriller? Whether you believe so or not, it's happening, as the first 'Black Sea' trailer previews his post-'Grand Budapest Hotel' excursion to the bottom of the ocean.

We've seen a bunch of "thrillers on a submarine," and this next one takes us to The Black Sea, where Jude Law's Captain Robinson has his eye on some of Hitler's lost gold, located in a Nazi sub at the ocean floor. As far as trailers (and premises) go, though, 'Black Sea' doesn't really get our blood pumping all that much. Perhaps that's due to the overly used 'Inception' booms.

From Focus Features:

A suspenseful adventure thriller directed by Academy Award winner Kevin Macdonald, centering on a rogue submarine captain (two-time Academy Award nominee Jude Law) who pulls together a misfit crew to go after a sunken treasure rumored to be lost in the depths of the Black Sea. As greed and desperation take control onboard their claustrophobic vessel, the increasing uncertainty of the mission causes the men to turn on each other to fight for their own survival.

Aside from Law, we also see Scoot McNairy from 'Argo,' Marvel One-Shot 'All Hail the King,' 'Gone Girl,' the upcoming 'Batman vs. Superman' ... in fact, he's pretty much the guy you see in every movie but don't necessarily know his name.

'Black Sea,' directed by Kevin Macdonald ('The Last King of Scotland'), opens in theaters on January 23, 2015.
