In the current world we live in - what with the celebrity nude photo scandal - cybercrime is at the forefront of a lot of the conversation. How do we keep ourselves and our identities safe? Such is the plot of 'Blackhat,' the new Chris Hemsworth thriller that stars the 'Avengers' actor as the world's leading hacker (who also happens to be beautiful and is really good at punching people in the face).

It breaks our heart to say this because we so look forward to the work of Michael Mann, but after watching this trailer, we're already bored out of our minds. We caught a glimpse at some 'Blackhat' footage at Comic-Con and it all felt very...off. At the time, we chalked it up to the oddity of seeing a political cyber-thriller among the superheroes and zombies. But, watching this new trailer here at home, it doesn't play any better. You'd think that having a star of Hemsworth's caliber would immediately give any film a boost, but it seems 'Blackhat' seems devoid of any kind of life. It's hard to even care about the film's plot watching this trailer because you're almost immediately bored.

For the record, the plot goes like this:

Set within the world of global cybercrime, 'Blackhat' follows a furloughed convict and his American and Chinese partners as they hunt a high-level cybercrime network from Chicago to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Jakarta.

Now, it's possible that this could be a great drama that they're trying to market into some kind of action movie, just because of Hemsworth. Maybe it all plays better on the big screen, and given Mann's resume, we're inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. It's just becoming harder and harder to do that.

'Blackhat' opens in theaters on January 16.
