We're still anxiously awaiting the third season of HBO's gangster drama 'Boardwalk Empire,' especially after that bad-ass new trailer finally showed off footage of our return to Atlantic City post-Jimmy Darmody.  We're still waiting to see how the shocking events of season 2 finale "To the Lost" weigh on Nucky Thompson in the new season, but what does the latest poster from 'Boardwalk Empire' season 3 teach us?

HBO has released the first official poster for 'Boardwalk Empire' season 3, so dramatic and fully of rain-soaked melancholy that they didn't even bother with the show's name!  While Nucky stands in the rain over the felled figure of an unseen man (which we know to be Michael Pitt's Jimmy Darmody), the copy reminds us of Jimmy's words to Nucky in the show's pilot episode: "You can't be half a gangster."

Indeed, the shocking murder of Jimmy Darmody is likely to weigh heavily on Nucky, but it remains to be seen if Michael Pitt will reprise the character at all through flashback or dream sequence.  Surely, his mother Gillian Darmody and Richard Harrow will be looking for a little payback as well, no?

After Michael Pitt’s departure as Jimmy, Paz de la Huerta’s Lucy Danziger will no longer be present,  while joining ‘Boardwalk Empire’s’ third season are Bobby Canavale as wildcard gangster Gyp Rosetti, and character actor Stephen Root in a recurring role. According to reports, ‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 3 will open some 15 months after the events of “To the Lost,” landing on New Year’s Eve 1922-1923.

Check out the new poster below, and tell us what you're most looking forward to about 'Boardwalk Empire' season 3 in the comments!

UPDATE 8/14 - We have removed the 'Boardwalk Empire' season 3 poster at the request of HBO.
