'True Blood' season 6 will soon come to its bloody end, but it will only be a matter of weeks before the seedy drama of HBO's 'Boardwalk Empire' steps right up to our must-watch list once more. Following the recent run of photos from the September 8 premiere "New York Sour," HBO has released the first official poster for season 4, in glorious black and white!

The new poster certainly isn't saying much (and may in fact be cobbled together from previous season key art) but nonetheless highlights Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi), Eli Thompson (Shea Wigham) and Chalky White ('The Wire' vet Michael K. Williams) looking their sketchiest in a black and white boardwalk photo from 1924.

The new season for Steve Buscemi’s prohibition gangster Nucky Thompson includes Patricia Arquette as a Tampa speakeasy owner, ‘The Killing‘ star Eric Ladin as a young J. Edgar Hoover, ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire‘ star Jeffrey Wright as educated Harlem leader Dr. Narcisse, ‘True Blood‘ star Brian Geraghty, Ron Livingston in a new regular role, and HBO vet Domenick Lombardozzi as Chicago mobster Ralph Capone, elder brother to Al Capone (Stephen Graham).

The poster makes an effective complement to the 'Boardwalk Empire season 4 trailer, so have a look at the next HBO season below and tell us what you want to see from the Atlantic City thriller in the comments!
