It's been awhile since we've heard any rumblings about Legendary and Warner Bros Pictures' 'Here There Be Monsters,' a project that's been simmering on the back burner for a couple of years. Now we see some new life in the project as they slip in the right director, and possibly the right actor, for their picture.

Filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra has made his mark successfully directing more thriller-oriented movies such as 'Orphan' and the Liam Neeson starring picture 'Unknown.' Vulture reports that the director is currently in the middle of negotiations to take on 'Here There Be Monsters,' a period piece with a fantasy twist.

If Legendary Pictures gets their way and snags Jaume Collet-Serra, he won't be the only able bodied man to be joining the production. They just offered Bradley Cooper the lead role in the movie, which could work since the only other film that Cooper is set to shoot sometime in the near future is 'The Hangover 3.'

The script was written by Brian Helgeland which centers on the real-life Revolutionary War hero John Paul Jones who's British naval commission is taken away from him and is hired as a shipping magnate in order to further investigate the strange appearances of several ships that have supposedly been scooped up by a monstrous squid.
