Bradley Cooper Joins 'Jane Got a Gun'Damon Houx |
The production of 'Jane Got a Gun' has been under the microscope as its original director Lynne Ramsay left the movie just as shooting was to commence, while Michael Fassbender quit the production shortly before filming was to start and Jude Law dropped out once Ramsay walked off the set. But it looks like everyone who dropped out has been replaced as Bradley Cooper is stepping into Law's part.
This comes from Variety, who note that Cooper will be playing the villain of the piece against star/producer Natalie Portman and Joel Edgerton. As Variety describes it, the film "follows a woman (Portman) who asks an ex-lover for help in order to save her outlaw husband from a gang which is out to kill him. Joel Edgerton plays the ex-lover while Cooper would play the leader of the gang."
Cooper is a great get for the movie, which is now being directed by Gavin O'Connor, as he's coming of an Oscar nomination and is definitely an A-lister. It may also take some of the heat of the production as an also-ran when Cooper's star power is decidedly higher than either Jude Law's or Michael Fassbender's. Playing a villain will be a nice change of pace for the actor, who generally plays an arrogant but likeable protagonist. We'd expect 'Jane Got a Gun' to hit screens sometime in 2014.
