Back in September, news of a Brittany Murphy biopic was at the top of the rumor train, but with the lack of any official confirmation, it quickly fell back into the shadows. Now, it's come back to our attention as a press release has recently been published revealing that, in this case, the rumors were right.

Moviehole was the first on the news a couple months back, but actually, there are two Brittany Murphy-related movies in the works, reports Film School Rejects.

The first, titled 'Britt,' is apparently (the press release is unclear) co-directed by Asif Akbar and Julia Davis, who is also penning the script, and will chronicle the life of the late '8 Mile' and 'Clueless' star. Murphy's father AJ Bertolotti is also said to be involved with writing the story. 'Britt' is currently planned for a 2014 release as the search for a lead actress has recently begun.

The second project, titled 'Top Priority: The Terror Within,' is being called a "controversial new documentary" and is helmed by Akbar, although Murphy's storyline seemingly plays only a small part. This portrays the real-life story of Julia Davis, "a national security whistleblower who was falsely declared a 'Domestic Terrorist' and subjected to retaliation of unprecedented proportions by the Department of Homeland Security."

At the time, Murphy, a friend of Davis, was called into court to testify as a witness against Homeland Security after reportedly being targeted by them for writing a letter in Davis' defense. 'Top Priority' is planned to debut next week at the American Film Market.

So, what do you think? It was only a matter of time before someone created a biopic on Brittany Murphy, but what about 'Top Priority'? Will you seek out a screening or is this too 'Fahrenheit 9/11' for your taste?
