'Broken City' Trailer: Mark Wahlberg vs. Russell CroweMike Sampson |
In the 'Broken City' trailer you'll see Mark Wahlberg being the usual Mark Wahlberg ("Yauh gonna wawk away..."), Russell Crowe being the aging bad guy (when did become the actor playing the bad guy in a Mark Wahlberg action movie?) and Catherine Zeta-Jones as a slut. Can all these moving parts come together to make an effective political conspiracy action suspect thriller?
As you might guess from that last sentence, 'Broken City' is trying to do a lot. It's on one-hand very much a Mark Wahlberg action movie. He's a tough-as-nails cop who takes no crap. But on the other hand, it's a political suspense film. The exact plot synopsis is as follow:
When disgraced cop turned private detective Billy Taggart (Mark Wahlberg) is hired by NYC’s mayor (Russell Crowe) to tail his wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones), he uncovers a city-wide conspiracy of corruption, sex, and murder. With his life threatened at every turn, Billy finds himself faced with an impossible choice, which could have disastrous repercussions for his career and family.
Billy Taggert! If there were a Mark Wahlberg Character Name Generator that would be one of the first names the supercomputer would spit out. It all looks fairly generic but may be hiding some of its surprises. The film hits theaters on January 18th (also not a good sign).
