10 ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ Facts to Stake Out

Creator Joss Whedon picked up the series from where he’d left off the original 1992 film, wanting to subvert the classic horror image of blonde girls wandering into dark alleys, terrorized by creatures of the night. Whedon also invented the idea of the show’s “Hellmouth” as a limitless well of storytelling, wanting to explore the idea of high school as Hell.

Considering Buffy also shared its Torrance High School exterior with Beverly Hills, 90210, he wasn’t far off.
