Gamespot interviewed Brian Bright, project director at Neversoft, and Mark Rubin, executive director at Infinity Ward, about the new mode.
"It took us a lot of work," Bright said. "It took about 4-6 months... What we really wanted to focus on was having base defense mixed with survival wave-type defense, as well as scavenging and class leveling. I think we've succeeded at all of that."
"There's so much change in this game," Rubin said. "And the Extinction mode was a great release outlet for a lot of people. I know the artists had a great time designing all the aliens."
The real draw of the interview though lies in the nearly eight minutes of gameplay from Extinction on the Xbox One. You get a good look at the map and weapons, as well as getting a glimpse at the class leveling, upgrades and perks you'll unlock along the way.
In addition to all this new footage of Ghosts, Rubin took to Twitter to discuss the rumored resolution differences of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the shooter. Rubin did confirm the PS4 version will operate at a native 1080p, while the Xbox One will only offer 720p resolution. Both games will be at 60 frames per-second, but that resolution difference may tick off more than a few fans. At least the Xbox One has all that DLC exclusivity going for it.
