‘Captain America: Civil War’ Will Also Include Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye
Captain America: Civil War is gearing up to head into production, and going off of what we know about the upcoming sequel, as well as a few casting announcements, this is going to be a pretty different Cap movie. Not only will it include Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, but it’s also the MCU debut of the new Spider-Man. And now we can add another superhero to that list: Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye has been confirmed to join in on the action.
THR reports that Renner will begin shooting on Captain America: Civil War this spring with a few of his Avengers pals. Also on board for Civil War is Chadwick Boseman, who will make his first appearance as Black Panther ahead of his solo film.
The upcoming sequel, based on the Marvel comic arc, will see the government attempting to regulate superheroes, sparking a major divide between Cap and Iron Man—Cap doesn’t support the new regulations, which he views as unpatriotic, while Iron Man takes the government’s side of things. We’ll likely see some of this set up in Avengers: Age of Ultron, after Iron Man’s Ultron creation backfires and attempts to wipe out humanity.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo are returning to helm the film, and are also heavily rumored to direct both halves of Avengers: Infinity War. With that in mind, the next wave of Marvel films are going to be more cohesive than ever, setting up a multi-film chain of events leading up to Infinity War.
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
