Very sad news to report, especially for fans of crime fiction and wonderful writers in general: Elmore Leonard, the author best known for books such as 'Get Shorty,' 'Out of Sight' and 'Jackie Brown' (all of which were adapted into fantastic films, of course), has died at the age of 87.

'Sopranos' fans, the entertainment community, and the world at large remain in shock over the tragic passing of actor James Gandolfini, who died earlier today in Italy of an apparent heart attack. The iconic actor had been preparing his return to HBO in the form of UK-adapted drama 'Criminal Justice,' of which a pilot episode had already been shot, but now remains in "limbo" as the pay-cable network mulls a decision on how to proceed.

James Gandolfini's passing at the relatively young age of 51 comes at a shock. I hope it isn't too inappropriate to say that the startling news reminds me of the ending of the show with which he'll forever be most closely associated, 'The Sopranos.'
It's the shock of an abrupt cut-to-black, followed by emptiness.
In 2012, Gandolfini gave two outstanding film performances in 'Killing Them Softly' and 'Not Fade Away,' and while neither were widely seen, I was definitely looking forward to a post-'Sopranos' career of wildly divergent and interesting turns from a man who didn't need to make any more money and had the acting chops to take on challenging and unique roles.

Macaulay Culkin is a hot mess. He's such a hot mess, in fact, that people think he's a homeless man instead of the former child star of 'Home Alone.' But here's something you might not know about the actor -- he's 32, which is the same age actor Daniel Stern was when he portrayed Marv in 1990's 'Home Alone.' It's only fitting that the two now look alike.
