What was a joke just two years ago, is now going to be a reality: the classic strategy video game 'Tetris' is becoming a movie.
It's been a long while since we heard anything of the highly anticipated Batman: Arkham Knight, the last word being that the video game was pushed from its original 2014 release slot into 2015. Now, DC and Warner Bros. Games announced that the final installment has a firm release in June 2015.
We'll profess to not knowing a whole lot about 'Destiny' - the new console game from Activision and developer Bungie ('Halo') - but after watching this new launch trailer directed by Joseph Kosinski ('Oblivion' and 'Tron: Legacy'), our interest level is definitely raised. At the very least, we'd watch this movie.
One of the biggest issues in the news this week has been the ongoing rampant misogyny and outright terrorism in gamer culture, specifically the attacks on Depression Quest developer Zoe Quinn and feminist media commentator Anita Sarkeesian -- both of whom have suffered exceedingly personal attacks and threats on their lives (including the horrible one in the graphic above, which was sent to Sarkeesian via Twitter). The former for merely talking sexual agency as an independent, adult woman, and the latter for criticizing the industry's treatment of women in its games. We were already intrigued by the Alien: Isolation video game back when it was just a story taking placing between Ridley Scott's 'Alien' and James Cameron's 'Aliens.' But now it's gone from having our curiosity to having our attention: the first...
Ice-T is a serious dude. He's serious about music, movies, 'Law and Order,' and also video games, particularly online shooting games, like Call of Duty. But the best part? He does not have a problem telling anyone -- even Conan O'Brien -- to just move out of his damn way when he and his "clan" come through (admittedly, they do have a pretty cool name, which Ice is not afraid to share).
Microsoft hasn't had very much to offer on the proposed live-action 'Halo' TV series executive produced by Steven Spielberg, only that it would likely debut in fall 2015 to complement the released of the gaming' series fifth installment 'Guardians.' Now, we have at least some idea how the two properties might interact, and whose story the 'Halo' TV series might tell.
