CBS’ summer series have only grown increasingly (and unintentionally) hilarious in recent years, and 2016 may finally see the network embrace the trend. Next in the queue is, and we are in no way joking, an hour-long thriller of a Capitol Hill staffer discovering that aliens have eaten the brains of Congress. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you BrainDead.

Per Deadline, the admittedly somewhat tongue-in-cheek drama will arrive as a comic-thriller from The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King, airing next summer as an hourlong drama with a 13-episode order. Even better, let’s hear the concept described by the pair:

We wanted to do a show that was a mix of genre-pulp and high-brow politics – THE STRAIN crossed with THE WEST WING. It seemed like the best way to address the news today – not straight, but as the opening act of a horror movie.

Adds CBS:

Robert and Michelle have developed an intriguingly original concept with layers of humor, suspense and the supernatural. We look forward to launching it to U.S. viewers and a worldwide audience next summer.

And we look forward to live-tweeting every delicious moment. Is it summer 2016 yet?
