In the last couple of months, we learned a whole lot following the massive hacking attack on Sony, including their plans (and non-plans) for Spider-Man, their negotiations with Marvel, and more. But one of the more depressing revelations was found in e-mails detailing how Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence (of all people) were still getting paid less than their male co-stars. Apparently Charlize Theron took note of those e-mail exchanges as well, and has once again asserted how much of a badass she is by reportedly securing equal pay to Chris Hemsworth on ‘The Huntsman.’

A new report from Page Six credits an anonymous insider with information on Charlize Theron’s pay raise for ‘The Huntsman,’ the upcoming sequel (or prequel?) to ‘Snow White and the Huntsman.’ It’s well-known that women make less than their male counterparts in all industries, but if you’re mega-famous like Theron, you probably have more power to negotiate for equal pay, which is exactly what she did.

Theron will now make over $10 million for her part in ‘The Huntsman,’ the same amount that Hemsworth will make for starring in the sequel. While some have criticized the release of hacked e-mails from Sony, information like salary disparities between male and female actors is undoubtedly valuable. We still have a long way to go to secure equal pay for men and women in all industries, and while Theron’s reportedly successful negotiation to make as much money as Hemsworth is hardly a major triumph, it’s still inspiring.

Let us praise Queen Charlize Theron for using that information to her advantage and ensuring that she receives just as much pay as her male co-stars. Hopefully more actresses will take note and begin enacting real change in Hollywood.
