In his prime, Jackie Chan was marvelous. The untouchable martial artist kicked, punched and grinned his way to super-stardom in whirling dervish features like ‘Police Story,’ ‘Supercop,’ ‘The Legend of Drunken Master,’ ‘Rumble in the Bronx’ and ‘Who Am I?’ But age got the best of him, and Chan ended up in pictures like ‘Rush Hour 3’ and ‘The Spy Next Door.’ It seemed like Chan’s action career was over. Not yet.

Chan will release ‘Chinese Zodiac,’ an action-adventure film he wrote, directs and stars in that follows a man in pursuit of 12 mystic artifacts. While selling the film in Cannes this week, the 58-year-old Chan basically confirmed that this will be his last big action film, adding a layer of significance.

"I've been fighting and doing action films all my life, you've got to find a point to stop. With this movie I'm the director, I'm the writer, I'm the producer. So okay, I think it's a good time to announce that it's my last big action movie."

How big? Watch the first trailer below and judge for yourself. There are vintage Chan fights on display here, one that seemingly takes place on a couch. Try that one at home! Chan looks a step slower. That still makes him quicker than most. I know I’ll be lining up for ‘Chinese Zodiac’ when it opens later this year. Chan has earned that respect, at the very least.
