Warner Bros.’ Comic-Con 2012 panel in Hall H on Saturday has to be one of the most eagerly anticipated of the weekend. But which film will emerge as the “champion” once the three big dogs participating have unveiled their footage?

Warner is bringing Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit,’ Zack Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’ and Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’ to the masses. All three are bound to blow fans’ minds, but hype surrounding del Toro’s project is starting to pick up momentum with the release of a new inside look.

USA Today ran a photo in preparation for Comic-Con of the humans who will be fighting alongside del Toro’s giant robots and warring monsters. They showed up on the shoulder of that magnificent robot in the first ‘Pacific Rim’ poster. Now we’re getting up-close shots of Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi in their ‘Tron’-like fighter suits.

With all due respect to the actors, people likely will be showing up to ‘Pacific Rim’ to see the creature and robot carnage del Toro plans to blast across the screen. But it will be up to these two to keep things interesting in the brief respite between action.

Before sure to check back for more coverage of ‘Pacific Rim’ at Comic-Con 2012.
