Peter Jackson has brought 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' to this year's Comic Con in San Diego, meaning we get a look at new posters and some pretty gnarly looking trolls.

The film, which hits theaters December 14 (Merry Nerd Christmas!), follows the story of Bilbo Baggins and his legendary journey to claim the treasure guarded by a fierce and horrifying dragon named Smaug.

'The Hobbit,' broken into two parts, is based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien, which serves as a prequel to the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, also directed by Peter Jackson. The images we've seen so far have us plenty excited to return to the wondrous world of the Shire as Bilbo embarks on his epic quest with the help of a band of dwarves, under the watchful eye of wizard Gandalf.

The film has a big presence at Comic Con this year, and we've got two poster images and a look at the scary trolls from the film, which will cause Bilbo and friends a bit of trouble along the way.
