Comic-Con 2013 is approaching quicker than you think, and with every year comes a batch of geeky properties ready to present footage to a crowded hall of adoring fans. Last year gave us peeks at 'Iron Man 3,' 'Pacific Rim,' and 'Godzilla,' but what are we hoping to see this year? Check out our list of the 11 films we hope to see at Comic-Con 2013 to find out what we're crossing our fingers for.

    'Godzilla'

Last year, director Gareth Edwards and Legendary brought us a teaser put together by Edwards to get us stoked about his upcoming remake of 'Godzilla.' The film finally began production this month, but we won't see it until next year, which means we're hoping the big green guy will have a presence at Comic-Con 2013. We're looking forward to more footage and maybe even the debut of a more legit teaser. Edwards is known for his capabilities with visual effects, and it was the work he created on his own laptop for the indie flick 'Monsters' that landed him the 'Godzilla' job, so we'd love to see what he's cooked up now that he's had more time. And now that they have a cast including Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, and Aaron Johnson, maybe we'll see some familiar faces on that panel, too.

    'Thor: The Dark World'

The sequel to 'Thor' is currently in post-production for a November 8 release, and Marvel has a huge presence in Hall H, so including 'Thor: The Dark World' at Comic-Con 2013 seems like a no-brainer. This time around, Thor must fight the evil Malekith, who leads a race of vengeful dark elves in a fight to plunge the world into darkness. The sequel takes place immediately following the events of 'The Avengers,' and stars returning cast members Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, and a new face -- and former 'Doctor Who' star and Con favorite -- Christopher Eccleston.

    'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'

Comic-Con began as, obviously, a comic book convention, and Marvel now has plenty of movie properties to help tie Comic-Con 2013 with the traditional, like 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier.' Inspired by the story of the comic books, in which former Captain America ally Bucky Barnes has been brainwashed and transformed into the "Winter Soldier," the film follows Steve Rogers, as he tries to integrate with modern society and save his old friend. Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie (playing The Falcon), and Cobie Smulders star in the film, which doesn't hit theaters until April 4 of next year. We're hoping for a star-studded panel and, at the very least, a polished teaser.

    'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Another one from Marvel (who totally dominate Comic-Con every year), 'Guardians of the Galaxy' is the tale of a pilot who gets caught up with some intergalactic ex-cons in the middle of a universal battle. Chris Pratt stars as Peter Quill, a NASA astronaut visited by Master of the Sun and transformed into the heroic Star-Lord. Wrestler David Bautista was also recently cast alongside Pratt. It's definitely one of the more difficult Marvel properties to adapt, considering it features a character named Rocket Raccoon, but we think director James Gunn can totally knock this out of the park. Casting is still going on, so we're not sure exactly what the studio can have ready by the time Comic-Con 2013 rolls around -- perhaps some footage and screen tests?

    'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'

We were a bit underwhelmed with Marc Webb's 'Spider-Man' reboot last summer, but a few missteps aside, we're still excited for his upcoming sequel, 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2.' Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are back for another outing, with Shailene Woodley as sweetheart Mary Jane Watson, but more importantly, they've also got Paul Giamatti as the Rhino, Jamie Foxx as Electro, and the Osborn family will enter the picture as well. That may sound like too many villains (a la 'Spider-Man 3'), but we've been itching to see these bad guys on the big screen for a long time now. The sequel is currently filming, which means they should have something prepped to show by the time we get to Comic-Con 2013 and Webb's been dropping some visual teases over on his Twitter account to ramp up the excitement as well.

    'The Wolverine'

Okay, so this is kind of a weird one. The first Wolverine movie was a total stinker, and we haven't been getting our hopes up about this sequel, but that doesn't mean we don't hope to see it at Comic-Con! We're still optimistic that this movie can turn things around for ol' Wolvie. The film hits theaters just five days after Comic-Con 2013 on July 26, so we wouldn't be too surprised if the film had a special premiere at the convention this year, and with all the excited comic book fans in attendance and their positive energy, Marvel and Fox could use this opportunity to drum up a little more enthusiasm for the flick. At the very least, we're certain 'The Wolverine' and Hugh Jackman's sideburns will have a major presence at Comic-Con 2013.

    'Star Wars'

With 'Star Wars' in the hands of Disney now, there's a new episode on the way and talk of various spin-off stories. And while JJ Abrams is on board to direct 'Star Wars: Episode 7,' there's absolutely nothing these guys are going to have to show -- the film doesn't even come out until 2015! But Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher are all returning to reprise their roles from the original trilogy and George Lucas has said they wanted to announce their return with a big "whoop-de-doo" and there's no bigger whoop-de-doo than Comic-Con. So maybe Abrams can get these guys together for a fun panel, and perhaps they'll have some more info to share by July. There's no way JJ Abrams can be as secretive as he usually is with such a high profile, iconic property.

    'Anchorman: The Legend Continues'

Yeah, yeah -- we get a lot of Marvel and Disney stuff at every Comic-Con, but we always get excited to see fun stuff, too, and maybe at Comic-Con 2013 we can get an awesome 'Anchorman 2' panel. Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, and Christine Applegate are reprising their roles alongside new additions like Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Harrison Ford, Dylan Baker, and John C. Reilly.

That's a whole lot of crowd-pleasing faces right there, and it would give them a chance to debut a trailer for the sequel, which hits theaters five months later in December.

    'X-Men: Days of Future Past'

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' brings director Bryan Singer back to the franchise for a sequel to 'X-Men: First Class,' and he's bridging his 'X-Men' films with the new cast quite nicely. Joining 'First Class' actors Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult are a whole bunch of actors from the first trilogy to reprise their parts in this time-bending tale.

Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, James Marsden, Anna Paquin, Ian McKellan, and Patrick Stewart are all returning to the franchise. And we're also really stoked about Peter Dinklage and this mysterious role he's playing. Maybe we'll find out at Comic-Con 2013! The film is also set to begin shooting in the next few weeks, and while it doesn't hit theaters until next July, there's still a chance we might get a small teaser.

    'Oldboy'

Spike Lee's latest is a remake of Park Chan-wook's 2003 revenge flick, 'Oldboy,' which was in turn loosely based on the manga of the same name, making the upcoming remake popular among genre nerds, comic geeks, film buffs, and lovers of all things Japanese. That's quite the sweet spot, and kind of a no-brainer for Comic-Con 2013, if FilmDistrict is thinking smart. The film stars Elizabeth Olsen, Josh Brolin, and Samuel L. Jackson in this film about a man who, after being held hostage for 20 years and driven to insanity, is released and sets out for some good old-fashioned blood and revenge.

    'The World's End'

Edgar Wright is a Comic-Con favorite -- he brought the Con 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World' a few years ago, and he got to show off his 'Ant-Man' concept last summer. We won't be seeing Wright's 'Ant-Man' film until at least 2015, but he did finally get around to making the third film in his blood and ice cream trilogy, which also includes 'Shaun of the Dead' and 'Hot Fuzz.' Simon Pegg and Nick Frost got back together with the director for 'The World's End,' about five friends who try to recreate an epic pub crawl from 20 years prior and find themselves the unwitting heroes during an apocalyptic event. The film hits theaters in October, so we're sure to get a trailer and some footage if 'The World's End' hits Comic-Con 2013 -- and maybe Wright can provide a little update on 'Ant-Man' while he's at it.
